This Mother’s Day, I’m stepping away from the myths to rediscover a woman of fierce resilience and radical faith. We’re looking at a mother who lived on the margins of the Roman Empire, raising a revolutionary in a two-room stone house while singing songs about a God who topples thrones.
This Sunday, I’ll share some fascinating archaeological snapshots of what her daily life may have looked like—from the limestone vessels in her kitchen to the tecton’s workshop in the courtyard. It’s a portrait of motherhood that feels surprisingly modern in its toughness and devotion.
